Butcher Block Installation Guide

  1. Provide as much level support as possible.
  2. Do not install if the block is rocking on the sub-surface.
  3. Clean sub-surface with alcohol to remove excess oil or dust before adhering.
  4. Use high quality 100% silicone as an adhesive and bed for the block. (this allows for future movement)
  5. Screws should be used at the cardinal points of the top. An oversized hole (5/8”) and fender washer (1/4”) may be used through the cabinet top. This will allow the block to expand and contract. Important : Do not screw the top down without the ability to move. This will cause cracking, splitting, and failure outside the warranty.
  6. Seal any dishwasher, under counter oven, fridge compartment, or heated plenum, with a sheet metal cover so as to keep out heat and steam. This material is available at most hardware stores, lumber yards ,or roofing supply distributors.
  7. At the splash: Do not grout down onto the countertop. Create a grout width line and fill with a flexible color matched caulk. This allows for future movement.
  8. Give top a coat of Weiman's Furniture Cream (all natural) or Brooks Butcher Block Oil. Buff out to a high protective sheen.
  9. We have a three week production schedule. The top's finish is still fresh and needs to cure and harden. Do not put weight and heavy use items on your top for about a month.
